Black Lightning Reportedly Ending After Four Seasons
Jefferson Pierce is a man with many faces. He is a former Olympic athlete, respected educator and a father of two, Anissa Pierce and Jennifer Pierce. In the fictional city of Freeland he is Black Lightning with the ability to harness and sense electricity. His older daughter, Anissa, is a medical student, worlks with the Freeland health care center and also a social activist. She is also a superhero named Thunder with the power of super strength and invulnerability for as long as she can old her breath. Also, Jennifer, Jefferson's youngest daughter also have her father's abilities but she can generate electricity instead of conducting. Lynn Stewart is Jefferson's ex-wife but they are still very much in love and also co-parent their kids. She's also an expert in metahuman medicine. Together the Pierce family work together with Peter Gambi (Jefferson's Surrogate father) and other allies to take on the increase in crime in their city by the 100, the ASA, Markovians, and Tobias Whale.

The reasons why the show could be ending is unknown. But there is good news for the fans of the show as it was announced some days prior that Painkiller, a character of the show would potentially be having a spin-off and would be having a backdoor pilot episode in the coming season of Black Lighting. Painkiller is played by Jordan Calloway, Jennifer Pierce's boyfriend and a former secondary antagonist now an Anti-hero who is currently struggling with an identity crisis. it is unknown when the series would air or if it would even be picked up because we've waited over a year for the network to even Pick up the Arrow spin-off Green arrow and the Canaries. Seriously, what is the CW waiting for? the entire world wants this spin-off already!
China Ann McClain says she would be doing God's work
After hearing the announcement, China McClain who plays Jennifer Pierce announced on her Instagram that she was just hearing the news about the show's end just like everyone else. She also stated that this season was also going to be her last whether or not the show was extended for a fifth season. In the emotional video she stated she would be appearing in certain episodes and that her decision to leave the show was made during the pandemic. She also stated that the industry was trying to paint a picture that the world was perfect and that the world is suffering and people are suffering. She didn't want to go into details but she said she would be taking her time to do "God's work."
